Craig Schaar, President
Craig has served on the POA Board of Directors since 2010 and has served as Chairman of the Board since 2012. Craig has enjoyed his service as Board Chairman and has done his best to keep member interests foremost and a top priority. Craig has worked diligently to ensure compliance with our CC&R’s and Bylaws and has spent many hours representing the POA in outside interests including meetings with the County Commissioners and the Roads department. Craig has also worked hard to maintain the POA in a strong financial position. Craig has Bachelor’s degree in Business Management/Finance and a Masters degree in Business Management. Craig and his wife Tami purchased their cabin on Nez Perce Circle in 2006 and have been full-time residents of the POA since 2009. Term ends August 2022.
Diane was born and raised in Ogden, Utah and has many childhood memories of the Bear Lake Area. She has owned a cabin in the POA since 2015. Diane recently retired as a Budget Analyst for the IRS where she worked for 38 years. She has significant volunteer experience with the Golden Spike Amateur Hockey Association where she held positions as Director, Assistant President and President. She has served on the Utah State Amateur Hockey Board and has volunteered with the US Women’s Hockey Team including hosting the US Women’s Hockey team in the 2002 Olympics. She is interested in keeping Bear Lake as a beautiful, peaceful neighborhood and helping in any way needed. Term ends August 2022.
Terry Carlson, Vice Chair
Terry lives in South Jordan Utah. He is retired after working 43 years for Philips Broadcast Television. He and his wife enjoy their cabin and beautiful Bear Lake. They take advantage of the Bear Lake summers and winters with their 5 children and 19 grandchildren. Term ends August 2024.
Lowell Howlett, Amenities Board Chair
Lowell purchased his lot in the POA in 1999 and completed his home on that lot in 2011 when his wife Linda became a full-time resident as did Lowell when he retired in 2016. Lowell has a Bachelor’s degree in Geology and Masters degree in Statistics. Lowell worked for various engineering firms and in computer programming during his career. Lowell has worked assisting the POA with snow plowing, maintaining vehicles, planting trees, and spraying for weeds. Lowell has his Idaho water distribution certification and Idaho water treatment certification. With his certification, he is the backup person for Dan Fillon who is the main water master for POA. Lowell enjoys the outdoors and all the Bear Lake area offers. Term ends August 2022.
Gary Myers, Treasurer
Gary currently serves as the treasurer of the POA and has served on the Board of Directors since 2008. Gary is a Certified Public Accountant and works for a regional CPA firm. Gary and his wife have owned their cabin at Bear Lake West since 2002 and love spending time at Bear Lake with their family. Term ends August 2024.
Daleen King, Amenities Board Member
Daleen has served on the Board of Directors of the POA since 2008 and also serves as a POA representative on the Amenities Board of Directors. Daleen is a resident of Logan, Utah, and has owned a cabin in Bear Lake West since 2001. Her business background is in management. Daleen enjoys family time at the cabin and is the mother of five daughters. Term ends August 2024.
Marty is a full-time resident of the POA and is in process of building a new home in addition to the home he already has. Marty has several years’ experience working for Rio Tinto where he traveled extensively and held many roles and positions. He currently owns and operates the Shell/Bears Den gas station and store in Garden City. Marty has been serving on the Board of Directors of the POA since 2019. Term ends August 2024.
